Patient Advocate (Medicaid Specialist)

Under the supervision of Project Director or Project Manager, the Patient Advocate through caseload portfolio management, assists uninsured hospital patients with the process of applying for Medical Assistance benefits. The Advocate may work on site at the hospital or in an office setting doing primarily desk work that may comprise of completing and submitting Medical Assistance applications to the appropriate County Assistance Office, and monitoring its progress and updating both company and hospital database systems, and follow HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality. This position requires excellent phone, computer, communication, and organizational skills.

Patient Advocate (Insurance Analyst)

Under the supervision of Project Director or Project Manager, the Patient Advocate through caseload portfolio management investigates various insurance billing issues to help coordinate benefits between patient, hospital and insurance companies.  The Advocate works in an office setting doing primarily deskwork that entails heavy phone and computer work to help resolve the insurance discrepancies while following HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality.  This position requires problem solving and critical thinking skills along with excellent phone, computer, communication, and organizational skills.

Patient Liaison (Bedside Interviewer)

Under the supervision of Project Director or Project Manager, the Patient Liaison travels to assigned hospital(s) to conduct a thorough bedside interview with uninsured hospital patients to begin the process to determine if they qualify for Medical Assistance benefits.  The Liaison must possess excellent communication skills, be detail-oriented, record accurate information legibly, follow HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality, have use of reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license and current vehicle insurance.
